Pastor’s Notes 10-30-11

As we wrap up October, I want to say THANK YOU to EVERYONE who helped with the Fall Festival yesterday. We could not have done it without your support and your help!

One of the important things for us to do as a church and as the Body of Christ is to share God’s love with others, both within the church and outside of the church. God hasn’t called us to just gather for a huddle on Sundays and not do something in response. Imagine going to a football game and all the teams ever did was huddle. If you are like me you would be demanding a refund for your ticket. We buy the tickets to see some action!

Too often we get comfortable being in the huddle. The huddle is important—we get our directions and inspiration in the huddle, but then we break from the huddle and should move into action. If you haven’t caught the analogy yet, Sunday morning, Wednesday night and other “church gatherings” are the time that we huddle, but then we are to break the huddle and “go out.”

There are several ways for us to “go out” as a church, the Fall Festival is one of those ways. Another will be as we serve at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen in December or as we prepare shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. For some of us returning home after church is an opportunity to “go out” and share the love of Jesus with family members that don’t know the Lord yet. Or you “go out” as you go into your workplace or to your school. The important thing is that we are breaking the huddle and going. Will you look for an opportunity to “go” this week and make a difference in someone’s life? You never know when God will use you to make an eternal impact!

Blessings!
